Nowadays it’s recommended that older PCs have to use Windows 10 instead of Windows 7 cause of security reasons, if they have to run in a local network. For older Princeton Instrument detectors with use of Liquid Nitrogen the problem is that no device driver is available for Windows 10. A solution can be to prevent using the pc in a network, but that’s no really solution.
Our goal is the use of “PvCam.Net”, a device driver based on network communication.
In that case the detector is connected to the existing Windows 7 computer. An additional network connection is made with a modern Windows 10 PC where our “VistaControl” software is running. The “PvCam.Net” driver handles all communication that is needed to use the camera as the device you had before.
